This has been such a good week, being home from school/work and having Curt and KrisAnn home with us. There's way too much good food around, but I'm loving it and seem to be making more all the time. I'm excited about what the next few days hold for us. Tomorrow we have dinner and open presents with Deneen's parents, but before we begin those festivities, we're going to an early Christmas Eve candlelight service. I think slowing down and taking time to remember the grace and peace I've been given through Jesus will be a nice reminder of things I'm often too busy to recognize on my own. On our way back, we plan to take some pizzas and Christmas goodies to the fire station near our neighborhood. How grateful I am that those folks are always on call for our safety! Saturday will be huge! We'll open presents at home with C & K and then begin preparations for a full table filled with my mom's chicken dressing, my brother's smoked meat, turkey and a dozen yellow, starchy foods. By the end of the day, we'll be fatter, happier and basking in the glow of a fire and close family. Sunday will truly be a day of rest, a day off before taking the short trip to Dallas to have one more round of Christmas with my older brother and all of our family. The meals will be a little lighter, but the food will be fantastic once again.
I so love the way we have Christmas traditions, from the food to the family gatherings to the decorations to seeing friends from far and near. I am grateful to have a job with many days off surrounding the holidays and even more grateful for the love poured out by God that just abounds this time of year.
Merry Christmas!
